“I think I’m over 80 years, I’m not sure. I started learning bamboo craft from about the age of ten, and I just wanted to learn everything that had to be learnt in the craft and I did. That was my dream. I did not go to school. I also grow paddy but bamboo is everything for me. But sometime in between I spent more time on paddy but now I prefer this craft. I sell what I make in the local market and the markets today are better than before, people actually buy. I have a disabled son but it’s alright, God has been kind. My favourite food you ask? Chicken and pork anytime.” Kharena Rahang of Karbi tribe in Kampur, Assam.
